Build Reading Confidence
Once through phonics, your child understands the corresponding sound of the letters, and combinations of letters. They can progress to learning groups of sounds in the form of simple words.
This learning tool is designed to introduce vowel sounds, through simple words. The centre cube contains the vowel and the letters on either side change when rotated, creating different words.
The act of the child turning and changing the letters using this tool is important as it creates, muscle memory and therefore stronger connections in the brain as compared to simply seeing them written on paper. It creates a level of meaningful understanding, without the harmful side-effects of electronic screens.
The perforated word cards also allow your child to become familiar with the word by developing an association with the image that correlates with the word. Once your child has comfortably built that association then use the perforated line to separate the word from the image so that your child can sound out the individual letter and combine to form words.
Build Spelling Confidence
Reading and Spelling do to a certain extent happen simultaneously as naturally, a child is learning the sounds, order of letters as they are learning to read what word but, often the spelling of words only happens after the child develops an understanding of how to read the word.
The perforated word cards allow your child to become familiar with the word by developing an association with the image that correlates with the word. Once your child has comfortably built that association then use the perforated line to separate the word from the image so that your child can spell the word when presented with the image.
